Unfortunately, further scans and x-rays revealed that the injury was worse than initially expected, with Pollard suffering a significant fracture in his left fibula.
According to Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas, this will likely result in around three months’ worth of recovery time for the Dallas Cowboys running back.
In the meantime, it remains to be seen what will become of Pollard this offseason, as he is set to become a free agent.
There’s always a possibility that the Cowboys choose to Franchise Tag or sign him up for a fresh contract, so all eyes will be on them to see which direction they take when it comes time for decision-making.
The Dallas Cowboys’ upbeat start to the game quickly went down the drain when Jimmie Ward rolled up Tony Pollard’s leg on a tackle, leaving him in dire need of help, and headed toward the injury tent.
Pollard has been dealing out explosive plays all season long while Elliott’s runs have been much more cautious.
If Tony is unable to return to the field, it will be a huge blow to their offense as they will have lost their second great playmaker this season.
Elliott will take over as the lead back until then but whether or not he can replace those plays made by Pollard remains unknown.
As Cowboys fans hold their breath for Pollard’s return, Ezekiel Elliott may hold the key to getting off this current stall and taking control of the game.
