Kathy Louise Davis – Metropolitan Funeral

Kathy Davis, 59, of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away November 12, 2021, at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center with her husband by her side.

She was born to the late James Junior and Julia Richardson Davis, December 17, 1961, in Camden, South Carolina. Kathy graduated from Camden High School in 1979 and received a Bachelor of Science, and later a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Walden University.

Kathy is survived by her husband Kenneth Chalmers, Senior, her three children: James Thomas, of Columbia, SC; Sholonda Thomas, of Chesapeake, VA; and Christopher Thomas, of Lugoff, SC. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Devonte Portee, Jhyques Thomas, Naturee Thomas, and Corrine Yarborough, a sister, Carolyn Davis, of Columbia; two brothers, Keith Davis (Marion), of Monument, CO; James Horton (Tiffany), of Columbia and four nieces, four nephews, three great nieces, two great nephews, two Goddaughters, and a host of cousins and friends. Kathy was predeceased by her eldest brother, James E. Davis, in 2006.

Kathy was an avid Cinemaholic who enjoyed anything movies and television. She also found a love of painting and crafting over the last several years of her life, and thoroughly enjoyed creating masterpieces with her youngest granddaughter. She had a wicked, oftentimes dry, sense of humor and always kept a smile on the faces of those who encountered her. She rarely met a person who did not become her best friend, filling everyone around her with a sense of love and happiness after she left a room. Kathy loved and cared for any and every person she ever met, with or without their permission, which was one of her greatest joys. As her health declined, she kept her demanding attitude and incredible sense of humor by assuring that the EMT’s did not take her until her daughter packed her snacks in her purse “because I know those people at the hospital will starve me like they did the last time.” Kathy was and will always be a special, one-of-a-kind wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
