William Blakeslee Hartigan left an immeasurable mark on those lucky enough to know him at 34. Born to Anthony and Cecile Blakeslee Hartigan in Moultonborough, NH and West Palm Beach, FL where his journey began, William flourished academically and athletically before making his way through Concord High School and Cornell University where his lifelong passion for squash blossomed among its community of teammates and opponents alike.
Career in Finance Succession.
William built a distinguished financial career beyond squash courts, dedicating 10 years of his life to Merrill Lynch in New York, Boston and Concord before ascending to senior officer status at UBS Wealth Management Manchester; yet still found time for squash: winning National Doubles Squash title 2023 as well as reaching finals of Father-Son Championship that same year were among his many achievements that showcased his expertise and devotion to this ancient sport.
Champion of Sobriety and Service
William is another tale of personal triumph and generosity. After 14 years sobriety, he transformed it into an inspiration for others by dedicating himself to helping those battling addiction while mentoring young people through Squash Education Association. His commitment to making an impactful difference – particularly among urban youth – showed his firm belief in their capacity for greatness despite challenges.
A Beloved Family Man
William was an outstanding family man; beneath all his accomplishments and accolades was an immensely caring son, brother, uncle, and friend who brought joy and comfort through kindness, generosity, and unfaltering support to those he touched in life. William’s sudden departure has left a great void in our hearts but will always serve as source of comfort and inspiration to future generations.

Honoring William’s Memory Its We will gather to pay our last respects at Holy Name Church in West Roxbury on February 10th for a Funeral Mass of Celebration that will not only honor his memory but also illustrate how much of an impact he had on so many. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in William’s honor to SquashBusters Boston or National Alliance on Mental Illness to continue his legacy of support and compassion.
