Stuart Zender is an English bassist, songwriter and record producer who is best known for playing bass for British funk and acid band Jamiroquai. He left home at 17 to pursue music and joined Jamiroquai in 1993, where he co-wrote and produced on their first three albums. Guinness World Records cites Travelling Without Moving, one of the albums Zender worked on, as the best-selling funk album of all time. Zender left Jamiroquai in 1998 due to conflicts with lead singer Jay Kay, citing unfair credit for contributions to songwriting and producing. Since leaving, Zender has worked on projects with Lauryn Hill, Omar, D’Angelo and Stevie Wonder. He also started his own record label, White Buffalo Recordings, and began work on his solo album.
