On October 18th, volleyball team members saw their images were trending on Tiktok and notified the authorities. An anonymous user initially shared the videos with the handle itsfunnydude11.
This account was eventually disabled. But the account was eventually locked out. These images are currently widely disseminated online. When these films are exposed, the accounts that promoted them are effectively frozen.
Social media guidelines forbid sharing private images of users, leading to the suspension or deletion of their profiles.

Authorities’ Reaction to Wisconsin volleyball team leaked Content
We’re investigating what happened and who may have disseminated these photographs,’ said Department of Communications Executive Director Marc Lovicott. We are investigating whether one of the players’ phones was compromised, but no one, in particular, is being questioned.
If the X-rated images had been published without the consent of all 18 members of the 2021 National Championship-winning team, the poster would have violated Wisconsin law.
‘Our department has previously worked on instances like this, but many of them involve someone threatening to upload intimate images online,’ he continued.

A significant and unjust invasion of the student-athletes privacy occurred due to the illegal sharing, which may have violated university policy and criminal statutes.
